Sterling silver Salisbury cathedral charm. Salisbury cathedral was first built between 1075 - 1092 a new cathedral was built between 1220 - 1270 complete with cloisters, chapter house and bell tower. The tower and spire measuring 404 feet / 123 m was completed in the 1330's. During the civil war 1641 - 1660 the bishop and clergy were expelled and the cloisters and chapter house were used to house Dutch prisoners of war. One of the four surviving copies of Magna Carta dated 1215 is housed at the cathedral as is europe's oldest working clock dated 1386. By Andrew Hall
